As I've wandered through this life
Many great people have passed my way
So vast their contribution
I hardly know what words to say
I could ramble on eternally
Acknowledging each and every one
But today I must acknowledge
A very, very special one
In a time of awesome struggle
When it seemed there was no way
She stepped into the arena
She called for me to play
I knew not where to go
I knew not what to do
I knew not how to play this game
I could not win with what I knew
If this had been an unimportant game
I might have merely walked away
But the game I played was for my life
No greater game was there to play
But God had blessed me with a special coach
The greatest coach in all the world
She stood beside me in the contest
And all the magic then unfurled
Relentless love is what she offered
Infinite faith displayed each day
A bold and constant call for greatness
Play for it all is what she'd say
People may say that coaches come and go
Who knows what life may have in store
But I can play this game for all it's worth
With her my coach forevermore
