Hello Again!
As I approach my birthday this month, I have been reflecting on my experience of being born a man in this culture and
society.
There have been times that I have related to being a man as if that biological condition would give me some insight
into what I was born to be. As you can imagine, that was not a particularly helpful approach.
Other times, I have related to being a man as if I was viewed as one of the culprits responsible for most of the
dysfunction associated with life in the world. This was also not a particularly useful approach.
What is now very clear to me is that most often I related to being a man by being driven by, and constrained inside
of, cultural and societal expectations of what a man should and should not be. I now see this as a very uninspired,
disempowered and disempowering way for me, other men and also women to relate to any man.
What would be possible, if everyone related to being a man as an inspired calling?
The theme of this month's e-zine is, "What Is The Opportunity Of Being A Man In This Culture, Society And World."
